Meet Our Herd

Moon
Moon is 15 years old and adopted from Pony Tales Refuge and Rehab. Because he has the remainder of a racing tattoo, we were able to find his birth papers and history! He was a successful racehorse before slipping through the cracks and ending up at auction. When Moon came home with us, he was so weak that he couldn't run or hold up a back leg without falling over. We have partnered with chiropractors and nutritionists to help him gain back his strength and confidence.
He is now the leader of our herd.

Rio
At just 6 years old, Rio enjoys running laps through pasture, taking giant naps, and meeting new people. He is working hard to understand personal space and loves asking humans for hugs. We adopted him after a brief period with an Amish trainer, but his early years are a mystery to us. He has been the most extensive hoof rehabilitation case we have seen and his legs will always show the signs of past neglect. We are thankful to have the opportunity to give him a safe and pain free life.

Treasure
Treasure is approximately 16 years old and is blind in his left eye. We adopted him from Pony Tales Refuge and Rehab after they saved him from a slaughter truck at auction. Treasure's progress has been nothing short of remarkable. He went from being nearly impossible to halter and terrified of humans to curious, loving, and playful. He is often the first to greet visitors at the gate, but still requires calm and slow handling. Treasure has humbled us and opened our eyes to a new level of patience.

Stanley
Stanley is the smallest member of our herd. He is approximately 15 years old and his height falls right between a miniature horse and pony. We adopted him from Pony Tales Refuge and Rehab after he was left behind when his previous owners moved away. He is still very shy and scared of halters, but has shown that he is curious and very interested in learning new skills. He holds his own with the big boys and loves to play and run with Treasure and Rio.

Maverick
At approximately 23 years old, Maverick is the oldest member of our herd. Based on his extensive knowledge we think he spent time as a cattle and trail horse. After being sold at auction, he ended up in a lesson program at a large barn in Minnesota which is where we adopted him from. Significant scarring on his legs and face is a reminder that his past holds many stories. Today, Maverick's favorite activity is being brushed and spoken to quietly. He often falls asleep during sessions!
